KATHMANDU, JAN 14 – Coordinator of the Alliance for Independent Madhes (AIM), CK Raut, has said that he has no allegiance to the alliance of 30 political parties led by UCPN (Maoist).

Organising a press conference in the Capital on Wednesday, Raut said his campaign is independent and has nothing to do with the other political parties. He claimed that his group was being used as a pretext to preclude the constitution with federalism.

Raut, known as a campaigner of independent Madhes, claimed that police have been trying to suppress his campaign. He further said that his campaign is peaceful.

Earlier in September, Raut was arrested on the charge of sedition, and later released in November, after he deposited a bail of Rs 50,000.

He spent over a month in jail even after the special court ordered his release on bail of Rs 50,000.
