Police have re-arrested CK Raut for an attempt to launch protest in Kathmandu targeting the 18th SAARC Summit, on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.
Raut, who is facing a treason charge for provoking youth and indulging in anti-nation activities, was released a few days ago on a bail of Rs 50,000.
Along with Raut, 36 more have been arrested from various parts of Kathmandu, according to Nepal Police Spokesperson, Madhav Joshi on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
CK Raut Struggle Committee has, however, claimed that more than 500 of their cadres were arrested on Wednesday evening.
“We are investigating about those arrested. We will release them once our investigation is over,” adds Police Spokesperson Joshi.
Raksya Ram Harijan, an advocate who has been closely monitoring the activities of Raut, said that Raut and others could be released today (Thursday). “Police have already released 46 individuals arrested on Wednesday evening.”
Raut was arrested in Rangeli, Morang a few weeks ago. Police increased vigilance on Raut, as he announced that his protests in Kathmandu would coincide with the SAARC Summit.
