मधेश अलग देश बनाएरै छोड्छुः सीके राउत (भिडियो सहित)
 CK Raut आफूलाई मधेशी अभियान्ता भन्न मन पराउने डा सीके राउत वर्तमान नेपाली राजनीतिको चर्चा र विवादमा रहेका पात्र हुन् । मधेशलाई छुट्टै देश बनाउने अभियानमा रहेका उनले राज्य विप्लवको मुद्धा खेपिरहेका छन् । यही अभियानकै क्रममा उनी पटक पटक पक्राउ पर्दै छुट्ने क्रम पनि चलिरहेको छ । एकथरी सीके राउतलाई ‘देशद्रोही’को रुपमा हेर्छन् भने मधेशभित्र भने कतिपयको आँखामा उनी ‘मुक्ति योद्धा’ हुन् । तिनै विवादित सीके राउतसँग नेपाली हेडलाइन्सका सरोज गौतम र प्रयास पराजुलीले ‘तपाइँले चाहेको के हो?’ भनेर सोधेका थिए । कुराकानीमा सीके राउतले मधेश छुट्टै देश भएपनि अहिले औपनिवेशिक शासन अन्तर्गत शोषित र प्रताडित भैरहेको तर्क गर्दै आफ्नो अभियान मधेशलाई औपनिवेशिक शासनबाट मुक्त गरेरै छोड्ने रहेको बताए । मधेशलाई छुट्टै देश नबनाए सम्म आफूले विश्राम नलिने पनि उनको भनाइ छ । कुराकानीको सम्पादित अंशः - (more…)
Not yet boiling point
The people of the Tarai are angry, but not angry enough to join another protest movement led by Madhesi politicians Navin Jha in NAWALPARASI After the CA Chair Subhas Nembang, apparently under pressure from the ruling coalition, initiated a vote on the new constitution last month, the Maoist-Madhesi opposition alliance has been on warpath — not withdrawing their protest programs even after Nembang halted the voting process.  Madhesh Strike UCPN(M) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal has declared Kathmandu, Madhes and ethnic strongholds of the hills as three ‘fronts’ of the alliance’s protests. But he knows that the real test of the success of his agitation will be the Madhes if it is to have any effect in pressuring the government. (more…)

Missing statesmen
JAY NISHAANT James Freeman Clarke, the 19th century American theologian, said that a politician thinks of the next election but a statesman of the next generation. Let me add something in the Nepal context: a stuntman thinks only of the next stunt and not of the whole show. The citizenry of Nepal are desperately searching for a statesman among their leaders. Sadly, there isn’t a single statesman in sight; rather several stuntmen capable of exceptional tricks have emerged. These stuntmen think only of next political ploy, not of next election, and definitely not of the next generation. (more…)
